New partnership to create unique Holiday experience in Heritage Park

Don’t let the coronavirus pandemic ruin your holiday season.

The City of Taylor and Bluewater Technologies Group. Inc. are partnering to create Downriver’s premiere Christmas experience running through Heritage Park this winter.

The walk will take your family through a winter wonderland of unique, interactive high-tech laser shows, holiday displays and characters throughout the historic Coan Lake area, Heritage Park Petting Farm and the Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Photos with Santa will benefit the Taylor Goodfellows. Food and refreshments will be available. Special reserved scheduling in small groups and social distancing are planned for the health and safety of all visitors.

All of the plans have not been finalized – including ticket prices – but look this new and exciting event to start on November 20, 2020, run through January 10, 2021, mainly on Thursdays through Sundays. According to organizers, special discount prices will be available for residents.

“We firmly believe that this will turn into Downriver’s most attractive Christmas event over the course of time,” Mayor Rick Sollars said. “This will be truly a unique experience. A great opportunity for families to come out and experience the old, traditional Christmas – carolers, Santa Claus, themed characters – combined with this visual show that only Bluewater can provide. Heritage Park is beautiful in the winter. This should be breathtaking.”

Bluewater, operating since 1985 and now located in Wixom, specializes in meetings and events, audio visual integration, retail experiences, environments and exhibitions.

This year, this event will help fill the void of Taylor Winterfest and Santa’s Magic Forest, both of which have been cancelled this year.

Crowd restrictions in the State of Michigan prevented the Winterfest, which has consisted of parades, tree lightings and fireworks. Organizers of Santa’s Magic Forest, held annually in the Activities Building in Heritage Park, do not feel safe holding a large indoor event during the pandemic. Both the Winterfest and Santa’s Magic Forest plan on returning next year.
