COVID-19 UPDATE: WHO sees huge surge in Europe

According to the World Health Organization, half of the 48 countries in its Europe region have seen a 50 percent rise in cases in the past week. That and more in the Wayne County Report for October 20, 2020.

With Europe firmly in the grip of a second wave of COVID-19, several countries have imposed curfews, while Wales and Ireland have become the first territories to impose lockdowns.

Wales will be imposing a “fire-break” lockdown of 14 days, Ireland announced a nationwide “stay at home” order for six weeks and Belgium will be shutting down bars and restaurants for a month as authorities there warned of a possible “tsunami” of new COVID-19 cases.

According to the countywide health data release October 19, 2020, Taylor recorded 11 new cases of COVID-19, upping its overall total to 1,139. There were no new deaths. That total remains at 81.
