Pro-Line Asphalt is scheduled to resume work on Beech Daly from Brest Road to Wick Road starting the week of April 13. Construction activities this year will consist of completing work on drainage structures in the southbound lanes. Shifting traffic to the southbound lanes, and completing work on southbound lanes, and finally placing the top layer of asphalt on all lanes.
This project was originally scheduled last fall, but was postponed halfway through the project by a huge early November snowfall. At that point, the work was sealed and leveled, and traffic was able to continue throughout the winter. This is a joint project between the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the City of Taylor.
During the course of the construction you should expect the following:
COVID-19 precautions: The City of Taylor, Hennessey Engineers, and the contractor are aware of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and are taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of the residents of Taylor, business and construction personnel. Specific actions plans have been developed to ensure that social distancing, hygiene and other best practices for mitigating the spread of COVID-19 are in place, and we will all work together to follow the guidelines of the Governor’s office, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control, and other governing agencies. Therefore, we ask that if you have any questions or concerns regarding this project to please call our office or construction personnel to discuss. Pertinent numbers are listed at the end of this notice.
Traffic Control and Detours: Throughout the duration of construction, Beech Daly traffic will be maintained one-way northbound, with access to local traffic only. The detour for Beech Daly will utilize Brest Road, Inkster Road, and Wick Road. The Taylor Police and fire Departments are aware of the construction and precautions are being taken to continue proper protection of this street.
Dust Control: The contractor, on a regular basis, will sweep the travel lanes during construction and all adjacent side streets to control dust as much as possible; however, this will be an active construction zone, and dust will exist and should be expected.
Sprinkler Systems: If you have a sprinkler system, to prevent any damage, we ask that you mark or flag where the sprinkler systems may be located within the right-of-way (between the road and sidewalk). If sprinkler systems are accidentally damaged, the contractor will replace the damaged sprinkler system as a part of this project.
Driveway Approaches: Driveway approaches will be removed and replaced as needed for the entire project to account for adjustments to the elevations of the new roadway. Following the completion of the drive approach, the approach will require seven days to cure before it can be opened for use. Driveway replacements will not be allowed to be a greater width than what currently exists.
Restoration: Upon completion of the project, all areas disturbed during this road reconstruction project will be replaced with topsoil, seed and mulch. The contractor will be responsible for watering each site until vegetative growth has been established.
Garbage Pick-Up/Mail and Parcel Delivery: Garbage pickup will remain uninterrupted during construction. Place your garbage at your normal location at the end of your driveway and the contractor will place your receptacles on the open side of the roadway and return at the end of the day. Mail delivery and parcel delivery will not be interrupted at any time.
Working Hours: Working hours will typically be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional work taking place on Saturdays. However, during main line paving operations, it is possible work hours may be extended later than 6 p.m.
Handicap Accessibility/Assistance for Seniors: If you have a disability and need handicap accessibility at all times during construction, please contact Hennessey Engineers at the phone number below and we will work to provide handicap accessibility as best as possible. It is anticipated that the project will be completed in June 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience that this work is causing, but trust that you will understand the benefit of this project once it is completed.
