  1. City schedules five-year review of Master Plan

    March 20, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Taylor City Hall

    The City of Taylor will hold a five-year review of its Master Plan at 6 p.m. March 20 in the City Council Chambers, in accordance with the Michigan Planning Enabling Act. The Planning Commission review is open to the public. Taylor’s Master Plan was completely updated in 2008,. A five-year review was done in 2013, with final adoption of amendments in 2014. While much of the plan may continue to be valid, there may be areas of the plan need to be amended and changed where warranted. Once the commission concludes its review, it will forward recommendations to City Council, for adoption, if needed. Identifying and prioritizing future ordinance amendments is important to support the City’s future development and Master Plan.

  1. Plarning - Mats for the Needy

    Plarning is making yarn from out of plastic strips (plarn) cut from grocery bags. The strips are crocheted into 3'x6' mats that are distributed to the homeless. The mats are lightweight, washable, bug resistant and also benefit our environment by putting the plastic bags to good use instead of our landfills. Approximately 700-1000 bags are used to complete one mat. This group meets every Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:30 am. We always need volunteers to sort, cut or crochet. If this interests you, why not join in and help provide a means for a needy cause and pass a good deed forward. We'd love to have you!

    Instructor: Robert Correll. Tai Chi is a moderate intensity cardiovascular and weight bearing exercise. It is practiced in a slow, gentle and gracefully flowing manner and is easy on your joints. It can be practiced by almost anyone regardless of the level of fitness. The approach is self-paced and non-competitive. "No pain" is the watch word. Tai Chi can improve balance, flexibility, strength and endurance. Studies have shown that Tai Chi can help reduce pain, lower blood pressure, strengthen the lungs, reduce stress and generally increase the sense of well being. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat, rubber soled shoes.
