Treasurer Michelle Tocco was elected to her first, four-year term in office in November 2021. She was born and raised in Taylor. and attended Waring and Holland Elementary School, and Truman Junior High and High Schools as a student. After graduating she attended Eastern Michigan University and earned a Bachelor and Masters’ degree in Education.
Her professional career in education was entirely in the Taylor School District. She was an elementary teacher, a middle school teacher and an administrator at both the elementary and middle school levels.
After her retirement from the Taylor School District it only seemed fit that she applied for the then-vacant treasurer position. In August 2019, she was appointed by council as the treasurer for the City of Taylor.
She says that she thoroughly enjoys being part of an amazing team. She notes that she has always had the support of her family in every aspect of her life. Her dad, Jack, now in Florida; two adult daughters, Alyssa and Olyvia; siblings Bobby and Chrissy; sister in law Stacey; and boyfriend Lanny have always been her biggest cheerleaders. Tocco says that she is proud to be able to continue to serve her community.
